Apple Macbook/Pro/Air/iMac
Macbook / PRO
Truth is that the drive in your macbook is not any different than any other drive found in modern laptops. The cause for drive failure in these models is usually caused by excessive heat. They look sexy but have poor cooling. Success rates on these ones are very high. I do more of these than anything else.
Macbook Air / Retina
These models have SSD (Solid State Drives) and are a completely different animal. New technology is emerging for recovery of these models. Current recovery success rates on these models varies.
imac
I'm good at taking iMacs apart but i don't have time to put them back together. All I care about is the drives and data inside them so if you would like data recovery on an iMac then please get the drive taken out prior to bringing it to me. ( i can give options if the apple store don't want to do it )
My sole job on this planet is to get you the data back. These drives are usually Western Digital or Seagate. The latest ones are hybrid (Solid state and 3TB Seagate DM Drives) Blog post on the problems associated with them here
